The Ilyushin IL-96 is a Soviet-made four-engined wide-bodied jet airliner that was designed for long ranged flights. It is based on the predecessor Ilyushin IL-86 and is essentially an upgraded version of the IL-86. It competes with the Airbus A340-200 and Boeing 767-400 series as well as the Boeing 777. It is a cheaper but less fuel efficient alternative to these airplanes. It was introduced in 1992. In game, there are 4 variants, 3 passenger versions and 1 cargo version.
