Beginners should carefully consider whether they want this city as a hub. Its high tourism ratings create good opportunities for sending routes to major cities in Europe, such as London, Paris, or Rome. Cargo routes are discouraged due to the city's low business ratings. Lisbon is also a worthwhile city to connect to American cities such as New York or Boston. The city can only sustain mild competition, and routes with 2 or more competitors out of the city should be closed.
Lisbon Portela Airport usually does not attain a status higher than Level 4 or 5. As such, it is not recommended to buy the airport from the national government. Additional airports here are not worth it due to this.
The best airplanes to use here are medium sized planes such as the Boeing 787 and Boeing 767. Small planes can be used on routes from Lisbon but are not as efficient as medium sized ones. Large planes are discouraged due to in all likelihood, they will not be fully occupied.
