The McDonnell Douglas DC-10 is an American-made wide-bodied trijet. It was introduced in 1971. It has ranges for medium- to long- haul flights and was intended to replace the DC-8 as the standard long-ranged aircraft as well as McDonnel Douglas's attempt to compete with new 747 in the wide body market. The aircraft never reached its full potential after the cargo door flaw and ensuing lawsuit fiasco after the crash of Turkish Airlines Flight 981 and American Airlines Flight 96 and in total only sold 368 aircraft. On the market, it competed with the Lockheed L-1011 Tristar, with a similar layout. In game, there are four variants: the DC-10-10, DC-10-30, DC-10-40 and the DC-10-30F.
