Vital statistics
Airport Name Toussaint Louverture International Airport

Tourism 0-100

Port-au-Prince is a very unpopular place for airlines due to the very low ratings. Do not expect any flights out of this city to make a lot of money as a result. Competition as a result is virtually non-existent, but the city cannot sustain any competition due to the low ratings. This alone should be enough to convince players to never open a hub in this city. While the city can make connections to cities in North America (e.g. New York, Chicago and San Diego) and South America (e.g. Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires and Lima), these flights are often not worth it. Hence, players are advised to avoid this city whenever possible.

Toussaint Louverture International Airport is usually empty and even if its not, it can never get upgraded beyond its initial status of level 1. Non-existent slot demand also means that secondary or tertiary airports are also pointless in the city. Thus, players should never consider building or buying airports in the Port-au-Prince.

Because of the low ratings, the best planes to fly to and from Port-au-Prince from any sized city for cargo or passenger operations are usually cheap, small to medium sized planes. Great examples include the Boeing 737, Airbus A320, Tupolev Tu-134 and the British Aerospace 146. Large capacity and expensive aircraft are best avoided in order to minimise depreciation and ensure that the meagre profits could still be harvested even during off-peak months.

  • The airport is named after Toussaint Louverture, a leader of the Haitian revolution who fought against the colonial French and helped liberate slaves. The revolution helped lead to the founding of the independent state of Haiti.
