Singapore is a large global city-state and island country located in South-east Asia. The city has very high business and tourism ratings that often exceed 400 or more each. The business ratings often exceed 500, while the tourism ratings will often exceed 400.

Airport[]

The default airport here is Singapore Changi Airport (SIN).

Trivia[]

In real life, Singapore Changi Airport is one of the busiest in the world. Yet, the airport is ranked as one of the best as it has won over 500 "World's Best Airport" awards from many airport reviewers including SkyTrax due to Changi Airport's elite serivces.

The airport opened in July 1, 1981. Prior to that, Payar Lebar Air Base was used as the main gateway into Singapore. The air base was named "Singapore International Airport" during the time it served as an international airport until 1980 when all civilian flights were transferred to Changi Airport and control was givin to the military.

Strategy[]

Singapore's high ratings often attract many players to start a hub here. This results in heavy competition between many airlines for routes into and out of the city. Although the city can sustain the fierce competition, beginners are advised not to start here. In addition to that, Singapore is located in a slightly isolated position in South-east Asia. While the city can be linked to many other Asian cities to the north (e.g. Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai and Mumbai) and European cities (e.g. Paris, Istanbul and Moscow), there are a limited number of cities to fly to to the south of Singapore. Usually, the best routes out of this city, cargo or passenger, are the monopolised flights to medium sized cities like Manila, Changsha, Brisbane and Kaoshiung.

Singapore Changi Airport will almost always attain a maximum slot usage within 10 to 15 years into the game. This makes the airport an excellent choice for any players seeking to buy over a national airport. However, despite the city's popularity with players and the need for a second airport once the primary one is full, additional airports often do not achieve a status beyond a level 3 or 4 due to Singapore's lack of cities to connect to overall. Hence, players should avoid building any addtional airports in this city unless all other first choice options are unavailable.

Like many major cities, aircraft used in Singapore should have a high satisfaction and large capacity when flying to similar large cities. Examples include the Airbus A380,Boeing 747 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11. These aircraft can also give the player an edge when it comes to dealing with competitors due to the high satisfaction. For flights to other small and medium sized cities, aircraft can be of any range and have a medium capacity. These planes include the Boeing 787, Airbus A330,Ilyushin IL-96 and the McDonnell Douglas DC-10. Small capacity planes should be avoided as the large number of travellers or cargo going to and from Singapore would greatly exceed the tiny capacity of the plane and will result in additional aircraft being needed to service the route. This will lead to increased maintenance costs and inflated depreciation.
